What is Africa to Me?
What is Africa to me? What is Africa to you? That is a question that you would receive various answers to- ranging in depth. Often times, you will find the people have have never been there, or even tell you the first part of their lineage in correlation to Africa will have the most to say about, or the most admiration to give in regards to culture. But they will also be the ones that only know so little about the culture.
Africa to me is a nation of individuals so rich in so many things, but diminished down to almost nothing at the hand of ignornace.

If you ask any person that has uprooted their life to come to America or even Europe for better opportunities: jobs, education, refuge, etc. Africa is their home. It is their safe space despite the circumstance. It is the motherland. It is memories of homecooked meals and family or close friends. It is the home of all resources exported throughout the world to produce products such as the phone in your hand. Africa to me is history and culture and music and fashion; it is the inspiration behind hairstyles we see trending on instagram and TikTok today. It is vast lands of scenery and wildlife. It is the small towns of tight knit communities. It is the tribes you do not know too much about because they try so hard to protect themselves from exploitation. The families who still find a way to be content with less than what would be ideal to sustain. It is highly developed towns with more advanced technology than anyone outside would want to give them credit for. It is the home of your favorite football player, basketball player, rapper, designer, or model.
