Image Search

-Aside from the water debate, one of the resources I definitely found helpful was the geolocation. I know personally when I am looking for a specific restaurant or land mark on the gps or searching the address I want to see what the building looks like or structure because it helps to give context as to where it is located. Another source is the reverse image search. There is a show on MTV called “Catfish” where they catch people in the act of using other people’s pictures or name to create a fake identity. When showed these accounts by people who have come in contact with them, the first thing they do is reverse image search them to see if the photo is registered to an actual account or if it is a stock image that can be found just on Google or another search engine. The same thing is done for phone numbers to see who and where the number is registered to.

Using the popular show Catfish was a great example of observational images. The show allows you to see real and fake images. This was a great example.

Fake identity is at an all time high these days. It is sad that we cannot trust the news or information given to us. Most thieves are out to lie, steal and cheat in any way possible. The hurt runs deep dating back to slavery in my opinion. When people hate themselves, they will do some weird things! I am thankful for the communications class and the tools provided to fake check information.

Hi Ketsia,

That’s a great example of reverse image search that you thought of. I’ve heard of the show but I never watched it and I never knew how they found the catfishes. That’s really interesting!
